  1. P K Rosy is the first heroine in Malayalam Cinema, Vigathakumaran directed by J.C. Daniel. Born at Thycadu in Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala in a lower caste family. She was a coolie worker to meet daily demands. She was accidentally selected as heroine by Daniel, because of unavailability of ladies to act in cinema. During that time cinema acting by ladies was being considered as a social evil. They were branded as prostitutes. Due to this fear ladies were feared to act in film. Despite this social evil, Rosy became ready to act in it. She was a daily waged actress in Daniel's cinema. After releasing of Vigathakumaran, viewers got angry and they became violent, whenever Rosy appeared in screen. It forced theater owners to stop the exhibition on fourth day. Tragedy of Rosy took a new turn and mob in Trivandrum began to attack her even at her home. They blockaded her house insulted many times knowing these atrocities towards Rosy then the King of Travancore ordered police to give her protection. Yet, people who became angry over her courage to act were continuing attack. One day they burned their hut. Finally she ran away from the spot. It is believed that she ran away with a lorry driver and lived in Tamil Nadu. After the vanishing of Rosy, she was inaccessible for movie historians. The prominent movie historian Chelangatt Gopalakrishnan in his articles and books disclosed the matter said above. He says that Rosy was lived either in Trichinappally or in Nagercoil. In his investigation, he got another unverified opinion that Rosy jumped into a river and committed suicide when she was running from her hut following mob violence.
